Translation of Genesis 2:16

God Yahweh commanded to the man, speaking: From each tree of the garden you may eat.

Translation of Genesis 2:17

From the tree of knowledge of good and bad, don't eat from it, because in the day you you eat from it you will become quite dead.

Comments

Adam hasn't died physically in the day he ate it. Victor Porton claims that "you die" here means "the operating system of your brain will hang". See also Theology:Fall_of_the_man.
