Translation of Genesis 6:3

Yahweh said: my Spirit will not strive with the man forever, because that they are also flesh. Their days will be 120 years.

Comments

It may mean both that there will be the flood after 120 years and that after the flood people will live no more than 120 years.

The decrease of the lifespan of people may be because:

  1. they interbred with close relatives;
  2. changed climate after the flood.
