Translation of Genesis 2:4

These (are) generations of the heaven and of the Earth in their creation in day which did Yahweh God Earth and heaven...

Translation of Genesis 2:5

... and all bush of the field not yet was on the Earth and all grass of the field not yet sprouted because not rained Yahweh God onto the Earth and there was no man to work on the soil...

Translation of Genesis 2:6

... and mist raised from the Earth and irrigated the entire surface of the ground.

Comments

Genesis 2:5 can be understood as a support of evolution theory because, if it describes events after the previous chapter, the grass was already created but not sprouted yet what is possible only if the "day" is a little period of time.

The word "generations" may witness pro evolution theory, as generations can be only if there is death. See also Theology:Evolution.

The word "day" here seems to denote the same period as six days in the first chapter of Genesis. This is a counter argument against understanding "day" as 24 hours not an arbitrary period.

I wonder it is said about the man here. Isn't grass able to sprout without a man?

Genesis 2:5 may be understood as indication that the following verse is about the period of the history of the Earth where there was no grass yet.

Analyzing of information presented on this page is complete (even with spaces hypothesis). That is, all variants of translation were considered carefully. No warranty however, that nothing is missing.
