Translation of Genesis 1:5

God named light as day and named darkness as night. It was evening and it was morning of the first day.

God named Himself as light of day and darkness as night. It was evening and it was morning of the first day.

God called light of day, he will sleep and to darkness it was chosen night, and it was pleasing. He in calm will sleep alone.

Comments

Saying about evening and morning of the first day, it may be meant that it was the first day after the light appeared on the surface of the Earth (see Gen. 1:3).

God is light accordingly (1Jn. 1:5) "God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all". So God calls Himself light.
