Translation of Genesis 1:4

God saw the light that (it is) good and God separated himself between the light and the darkness.

Commonly it is translated: God saw the light that (it is) good and God separated between the light and the darkness.

Comments

It seems to be more literally translated "separated himself" rather than just "separated" because the word is in NIPAL not HIPIL. Here it may be understood that God has chosen the side of the light for himself and separated himself from the darkness.

Analyzing of information presented on this page is complete. That is, all variants of translation were considered carefully. No warranty however, that nothing is missing.
