Translation of Genesis 7:1
Yahweh said to Noah: enter you and your house into the box, because I saw you righteous before me in this generation.
Comments
Note that God does not say "I saw you more righteous than (others) of this generation", but "before me in this generation". So, we may assume that righteousness of Noah was not just relative but in some sense absolute.
Together with the start of the next verse it can be translated: "I saw you righteous before me in this generation more than any clean beast." However, this seems not to agree with the grammar of the continuation of the next verse.
