Translation of Genesis 1:26

God said: We will create man in our image as our likeness...

God said: We will become a man in our image as our likeness...

.. He will subdue fishes of the Ocean, and birds of the sky, and beasts of the entire Earth, and all reptiles creeping on the Earth.

.. He will descent to the level of fishes of the Ocean, and birds of the sky, and beasts of the entire Earth, and all reptiles creeping on the Earth.

Comments

Plural "we" here is considered as a support of Holy Trinity, that is "we" may mean Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Others understand "we" as "angels".

"We will become a man" may mean that God has become a man, Jesus.

"He will descent" means that the man lost his ability to count like a computer and became of the same level as fishes, birds, cattle, and reptiles. See Theology:Fall of the man.

Analyzing of information presented on this page is complete (even with spaces hypothesis). That is, all variants of translation were considered carefully. No warranty however, that nothing is missing.
