"the The deep" apparently means the Ocean. It is supposed by some people, that the darkness was caused by dark clouds. "the deep" (thowm, {{Strong|8414}}) also an "abyss" filled with big amounts of water.Might refer to the ocean before any living creators lived inside there.As if it was a dead ocean or abyss {{FinishedSpacesHypothesis}}
