New page

(AKJV) If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
It is a weird thing for me that Bible requires non linear fine for the crime and this fine is increasing for possibly richer victims that for poorer ones, as a rich man is more likely to own an ox than poor one. Isn't Bible protecting poors more than rich? Or maybe the issue is that if ox is stolen from a relatively poor man it makes him more damage than sheep stolen, and this way Bible is protecting namely poor?
